I would like to hire someone to come clean my house once a month...looking for someone thorough, trustworthy and reasonably priced. I have no kids and no pets...how hard could it be? Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for the info. Maria is a little out of my price range. Maybe I am being unrealistic as to how much I would like to pay a cleaning person. Michael...can you give me some more information about Laurie...what does she do? How much? Anyone else have any suggestions? |

I'm just moving to Maplewood and am also looking for a cleaning person. I also have no kids and am looking for someone to come twice a month. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Do you speak Spanish? Albaro (excellent quality painter highly recommended in the Home-Fix thread) has a young wife who wants cleaning jobs. But she speaks Spanish. If interested call 973-573-5586 and speak to Albaro. He will come with her to translate and give a quote. I know Albaro is a hard-working perfectionist. He says his wife is a very good cleaner and I'm sure she will be reasonably priced since they are both new to the area and are eager for jobs. |

What do you guys pay for your cleaning services? What is the extent of the work that you have them do (laundry, sheets & towels, etc.) and how often? And how large is the space they are asked to clean? We have 6 rooms (plus hallways, stairs and landings), a full bath and a half bath. |

I'd say that takes about 2.5 hours to do, including changing beds, washing linens & towels and putting away the clean and dried items. I'd expect to pay about $35-45 tops for your place. Although they never admit it, I have found that cleaners tend to want to make $15/hr. (And imo, to make $20/hr under the table, there better not be a speck of dirt left!) |

I haven't heard of anyone getting nearly that good a price for any home in this area, even for weekly cleanings and definitely not for bi-weekly or monthly cleanings. Anyone have a cleaning service this inexpensive? If so, I'm interested, especially if it is a service (or otherwise "on the books".) |

sac - Melonious said it was a SIX room home. My friends pay $75 for their smallish CHC homes with 4 BRs, two full and 1 half bath, den. I think that's more "typical". It takes a team of 2, almost 3 hours to do the house. It would take much less time to do a 6 room house. |

I have five bedrooms, small LR, DR, Kitchen, 2.5 baths; I pay 80/week including some laundry (linens/1-2 extra loads -- washing and folding, not putting them away). PL me for my cleaning person's number -- she is wonderful and extremely reliable. |

I realized that it was small, but even when I lived in a small (7 rooms, but only one bathroom) house over ten years ago, I was paying more than that. There's just a certain part of the cost that is for them coming out in the first place. I'd be happy to be wrong, but still haven't heard of anyone actually getting their house (of any size) cleaned that inexpensively. |

We use Grace's cleaning service. They send one person, once a week and it takes her about 4 hours. We have three bedrooms, 2.5 baths and both a finished basement and attic. She cleans and does limited laundry (just the sheets that she changed). We pay $65 a week. I think that's pretty reasonable. I think she does a very good job, not the best ever, but definitely good enough for me and better than I would do myself. |

My night time babysitter (for the last 9 years) is a housekeeper in the daytime. I can vouch for her honesty and her work ethic any day. This is a very, very hardworking gal. She just told me two clients have moved and she has some day time housekeeping spots available. She drives her own car, speaks perfect english and lives in West Orange. I do not know what she charges for house cleaning. Her name is Mimoon (like My-Moon) and she can be reached at 973-731-9444. Let her know Kristin sent you!

I might call her K. I like to have the option, when I have a cleaning person coming, of possibly leaving the youngest if I have an errand. (Not that I do this all the time, but it can be very helpful on occasion.)
