does anyone know what the side-yard setback requirements are for a garage in S.O.? I'm slightly afraid to call the Village and ask directly. But the garage in the middle of our yard is making me nuts, and I want to move it.

Don't be afraid to call and ask!

I believe it may vary depending on what part of the town you live in... here in Maplewood, in my neighborhood the side-yard setback requirement is 5 feet. Many of the older garages violate that requirement, but they're grandfathered (it would be awkward to move all those garages!).
