We need to replace an enormous and very old window that will require some demolition/structural work and to have a portico installed over our front door. Tico's has already given us an estimate, but we'd like at least one other before we decide. Any recommendations would be appreciated. This is a bigger job than appropriate for a handyman, but not one big enough that the contractors are interested. Thanks. |

New - I'm curious how much you were quoted for the portico for your front door. We are considering one b/c with a slate roof, visitors are threatened with sliding snow/ice when it melts.
For the window, I'd recommend calling HG Edwards in Summit (908) 273-3224.

be careful with ticos and get everything in writing. i got an estimate, and i added a few things and at the end of the project they doubled my bill. i'm still battling them now. but they do excellent work and are very hardworking. |

we love jack sliwa and robert bys. have used them for nearly all the carpentry/home improvement work that we can't handle ourselves since we moved here last spring. and have talked to them about a portico.
they are punctual, hardworking, talented, detail-oriented, get back to you immediately, and clean up after themselves. they probably won't be the cheapest estimate you get, but they do phenomenal work and stand by it.

Ditto on jack sliwa and robert bys. They just built a custom, wall-mounted bench and wall unit in our kitchen and we are quite pleased. |
