Hi,

I spent the last two weeks trouble shooting a GE SmartSensor 30 Gallon water heater purchased from Home Depot. Today I return it. The first leaked requiring it to be returned too. The second would not keep the pilot lite.

I had PSE&G come out to talk with me and test the gas pressure. They stated that new laws forced changes to the water heaters design to make them safer. I am kool with that...

I spoke to GE several four times they kept stating the problem was air flow around the unit. I understood them and believe their assessment but at the end of the day I simply want hot-water! There is plenty of air flowing in my basement in and around the installation location. The GE (Rheems) product from Home Depot is over engineered. Further, it appears to be of poor quality (It looks great though).

Today I installed an A.O. Smith. If I have the same problem, I'll post another note. I am told its the best by several plumbers.

Cold showers can psss off the nicest person in the winter. Don't you think?

Sincerely.

I believe GE is actually a Rheem (Ge manufactures almost nothing it sells)

I don't love A.O. Smith.
I prefer Braford-White.

They are all about the same but customer service makes all the difference.

I believe the water heaters from Sears are made by A.O. Smith.
