My husband and I moved to Maplewood in January into a typical older Maplewood house. This is our first home and you guys have been a great source of advice as we're getting adjusted. I finally have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to just by using the search feature. We need to get storm doors for our front and back doors. At the moment, we only have the flimsy old screen doors that were there when we bought the house. We knew we'd need to replace them eventually, but once we moved in it became apparently that "eventually" meant "as quickly as possible. We're losing crazy amounts of heat out the front and back. Does anyone have suggestions for brands of doors or any store to go to for installation? We're moderately handy and have rehung a couple of interior doors but I think we want to get these hung by a pro. Any words to the wise would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

We bought storm doors from Jager in Union recently. They come out to measure and then install the doors. The nice thing about ordering from them is that they absorb any loss from measurement (as opposed to if you took the measurements yourself). |

As much as I hate Home Depot. I have used them for two separate storm door installations. I am extremely happy with both. |

We just had two storm doors installed by Essex Window and Door. They were Rainbow Doors. You'll enjoy having new doors- it was so great getting rid of our 60s dull metal door! |

My two cents...the guys at Jaeger though a little surly at times are knowledgable, do a great job and have high quality products. I'd rather support the local guys first and the chains last. |

Katharine--We faced a similar situation when we moved in 2.5 years ago. We finally got around to replacing the old flimsy doors with 2 Pella storm doors installed by Lowes. The difference is night and day in terms of appearance and heat retention. The Lowes installers were great. They took measurements, we selected the doors and had them installed a couple of weeks later (I think one of the doors we ordered was on backorder). They also took away the old doors. We had to go to the Lowes in Woodbridge but now it is so much more conveniently located in Union.
