This is a brand new place; all items well stocked, smell of fresh paint in the air and excellent customer service (yes, real humans helping the shopper)... after getting used to the Home Depot on Springfield Ave. this is very welcome...

I think Lowes is to Home Depot as Target is to Wal mart... better brands, little more upscale and of course bit more expensive... but seems worth it...

Anyone else been there? This is located where Morris Ave, 22 & Garden State meet...

There is just something about Lowes that feels better. It is cleaner, brighter and they do have better lumber for sure!

I LOVE Lowes - always have. I go to the one in Piscataway and have worked with Billy McBride, a manager there. He knows everything and everyone.

I went to the new one in Union regarding a bathroom update and was disgusted by the poorly constructed samples of vanities, the lack of help available to ask questions and they only seem to stock Kohler brand toilets!

A manager stopped me as I was leaving after 20 minutes of being ignored (one staffer, apparently a trainee, told me she "didn't know" if she could help me after I asked and said she'd check and walked away never to be seen again!). He asked if I was able to find everything alright. I told him I doubted I'd be back, took him to show him the vanity doors that didn't meet when closed, the stain missing from the cutouts in the "nicer" vanity models, the absence of anyone in the dept to help. He profusely apologized and agreed with my assessment of the dept and the poor quality of the display vanities!

I went to Central Bath in Orange and found better quality for about the same $$ and am about to check the Bath Connection in Millburn b/c I heard they have Toto toilets too.

I saw nothing to make me go to Lowes over Home Depot.

I have high hopes for Lowes but, so far, the customer service is below average. They have more people on the floor, but they seem just as clueless as those at home depot. I'm hoping that they will be trained to actually answer questions about their products in the near future.

I totally agree with negative comments about lowes. You don't go there to buy household fixtures. You go there for a really good hardware/wood/tool selection and gardening supplies. None of these "box outlets" pay employees enough money to get really good help. Sad but true.
When I moved back to NJ after being in Tennessee for 11 years I was shocked at how bad customer service was in the North. I can't even begin to tell you how many district managers of different chains I talked to about how disgusted I was with their stores........now that I have been back for 2 years I just accept it and go on about my business.

I had good experience with the tile customer service. We got our bath tile from the shelf, took all they had, but still needed more. The guy told us it would be in again soon. It got reordered immediately, and they guy gave us his cel number and called us when the shipment came in. Nice thing about Lowes is that we can RETURN the extra tile. Can't do that at a tile place.

We were there Sunday and really liked it. It's much more attractive than Home Depot and it has an impressive Home Organization department. Good lighting department too. I agree with Hillsider.
