I've had this done before. First, include the set in your moving estimate so there's room on the truck. Your best bet is to call a handyman to take it apart a few days before the movers come. Before he starts dissembling it, take pictures first of all connections, joints, etc.. and put them in a plastic Ziploc bag. Have him label all parts clearly and put corresponding nuts and bolts in the bag. If you have the original instructions that came with it when it was first assembled, put them in the bag too. After the movers take it to the new house, have the handyman come back and reassemble it. Not easy, but worth it if you have an expensive custom set, as ours was. |

I had two moving companies include disassembling and reassembling my set in their estimates. A third company wouldn't. The mover with the higher estimate recommended hiring a handyman and using WD-40 on all nuts and bolts weeks in advance so there wouldn't be problems getting it apart before moving day. (I ended up leaving the set at the old house.) |

How far are you moving? My family moved around two corners (a left turn then a right turn) when I was young and my father and a few other men picked up our swingset and carried it to the new yard. Of course, swingsets today seem to be bigger and heavier. We had the classic A-frame aluminum(?) model. |
