Used them for my lawn for a few months till I saw an article about how the ingredients they use in their fertilizer can cause cancer.

Am searching for lawn-care / fertilizing companies with safer ingredients. Any suggestions? Thx in advance

Kudos to you folks looking to get away from the poisonous lawn care craze!

We've been using Nature's Pro (http://www.naturespro.com/Dealers/lawnwatch.html) for quite a while and several other people in our neighborhood use them as well.

Personally I'm indifferent to all this "organic" stuff and skeptical about the cancer risk cited above, but I can say that our lawn looked like crap before and it's been really nice since we started using Nature's Pro.

One alternative is to do / apply nothing and see how that goes.

I suggested this once before and got a virtual earful about how irresponsible I was, and the guy supposed he should not paint his house or repair broken windows and such stuff either. But I can tell you, I don't do any of this. I don't water the grass, I don't put chemicals on it, I don't hire anyone else to do these things, and the stuff is not dead yet.

Argon--I tried that the first year after we moved into our current house. By the time the following summer came along, we had a pretty decent abandoned lot look going. We mowed but still somehow it looked neglected, the weeds were winning and crowding out what little grass we had left. That's when I called in NaturaLawn.

I take issue with Nature's Pro being anything other than a chemlawn type of company. The only thing related to nature with Nature's Pro is their name! Now, if it looks like Chemlawn, acts like Chemlawn, and uses the same chemicals as chemlawn, then why don't they call themselves chemlawn! Sounds like really false advertising to me. Look elsewhere for alternative lawncare.

It looks like dave23 and spare_o are actually using the same company, which I plan to check out. Are there any others in this category?

Scotts has a great service that competes with Chemlawn. We've been very pleased and our lawn looks great.
