I just paid $2.58/gallon last week. I was wondering if others are paying similar prices recently.

I believe our "lock in" price is $2.49 per gallon.

Superior Oil Company in Newark $2.10 a gal. for 200 or more gallons. This is today's price anyway. Changes daily, I call everyday when I start to get low to try and get the best price.

So, I have no idea how the oil proprietors set their prices. Are they regulated? I was expecting a fair price, but if someone is paying $2.10 and I am paying $2.58 I'd say that's not exactly fair price. When you have your boiler contract with a company then you are somewhat locked into their oil (and prices). Do they take advantage of that perhaps?

I have an independent boiler guy that I have used for years. He works for an oil company but also "moonlights" on his own. He has lots of private clients. Is here whenever he is needed and also does my annual service. No contract. I call around to the different oil companies advertised in the Ledger and elsewhere until I get the best price.
Haven't done a contract in at least 20 years. Much cheaper that way.

Emmie--
Are you able to get tank insurance? I found that the only way I could get insurance for my underground tank was through one of the oil companies, with a contract and an automatic refill clause. Is there another way?
