So--maybe I only read the posts that said good things about Luigi--but I called for an estimate last week. He called the same day and said he would be here on Saturday morning at 9am. At 10am when he wasn't here, I called him on the cellphone listed on his ad on MOL. He said: "Ohhhh...I forgot--oh yeah, it says your address for 9amu in my appointment book..but I'm in Morris Plains now." So, I took a deep breath and agreed to let him come this afternoon at 3pm. Well, it's 3:15 and he still isn't here yet.....is this typical?

Hmmm...anyone have anothe mason they can recommend? This is a significant job entailing 8 front steps, 2 walkways, a retaining wall and the apron of a driveway.

FYI - Luigi never came to my house for a quote either. I also had an appointment with a roofer today and he didn't show either. I feel your pain.

We actually had the opposite experience. Luigi came the same day we called him (and did a great job on our hardscape). Avellino never called us back.

Working with contractors can be very frustrating.

Try Carmine's Landscaping & Construction here in Maplewood. Matt always shows up to appointments and calls back right away. We had great experience using them. More info at www.carmineslandscaping.com or call 973-763-6626

I just love reading the Luigi flames while the company banner ad blinks above.

Priceless? If only.

We had prompt responses from both Luigi and Avellino. We liked them both but Avellino's quote was more than twice Luigi's.

Chiquita and Wendyn--I'm glad you had good experiences with Luigi--I guess I will never know how good his prices are--but I CAN tell you that his follow up stinks...missed 2 appts in ONE DAY and not even a call....I don't care HOW cheap and good his work is--that is NO way to do business.

Chiquita...I'm wrestling with similar dynamics - What did you end up doing?
