We are renovating our bathroom and the cutout in the wall for a recessed medicine cabinet is somewhat smaller than the boxes used nowadays for recessed medicine cabinets. Cutting the wall to make the hole larger or surface mounting (not recessed) would not be our first choice but I cannot seem to locate any medicine cabinets with a smaller box. Any ideas?

We had the same issue several years ago and ended up going with a surface mount cabinet. Now a days you might have some luck with a Google search on Medicine Cabinet and the size opening you have.
