Can anyone recommend a plumber/sewer company who can replace a lead pipe (water supply) running from the curb to the house?

You need a company that does "street work" or water mains and sewers.
You should do a search for some recommendations as the request has come up several times recently.

Speaking of which, (This is for MP) have you found that NJ Dept of Water's coverage covering this pipe is worthwhile, or is the coverage not very effective? I think it's $7 per month, and I only ask because a friend of mine paid $10,000 to get theirs replaced when it burst...homeowners covered it, but their rates subsequently went up.
