We are planning on re-doing our Kitchen and 1/2 bath. This will involve tearing down a wall and expanding into the existing sunroom (which I'm thinking will need to be practically rebuilt- just using the same footprint).
Has anyone done a similar renovation that could recommend an architect? We want to keep with the houses' style, so want an architect that would be sensitive to that.

I've looked at the websites for Clawson Architects and Gelman Architecture.
Can't seem to find any yea/nay feedback on them in the archived posts- anyone worked with them?
Thanks for the help!

Check on the NKBA website for a kitchen specialist, www.nkba.org
they usually work with architects and contractors (some are contractors themselves)who specialize in expansions which include kitchens and baths.
They can take you to one of their current jobsites
as a reference as well as a completed one.
It's easier to deal with one contact to coordinate the whole process plus, design and supply materials.
I've never heard anything negative about the two
Architects you mentioned. Usually local architects aren't too busy for a five minute phone consultation.
Good Luck!

We worked with Rene Clawson and we really love our new kitchen/powder room. She was very sensitive to the style of the house and how everything would "flow". PL me if you'd like to see it.

Would you mind if I PL you to see the project as well? I love to refer women professionals, there are so few in the field.

We worked with Paul Golden on a very similar project. He is sensitive to our historic homes and very easy to work with. If you need to know what he did for us, feel free to PL me for details.

Kitchen is being painted as we speak, but I'll try to post the final pics next week. This is the last big job on a loooooooooooong renovation project...

I'm thrilled.
