I want to put up a privacy fence around my backyard this spring. Yes, you need a permit. Good side faces neighbor. Has to be four feet tall. The exception being you are allowed something like 16 feet (length wise) of 6 foot high fence. If by "privacy fence" you mean surrounding your entire yard with a 6-foot fence, you are not allowed to do that.   Case Citizen Username: Case Post Number: 1299 Registered: 2-2005 Posted on Thursday, March 23, 2006 - 10:13 am:        It is my understanding that the fence must be on your side of the property line also... not 'straddling' the line. I don't know if there's a distance requirement (i.e. 3 inches?).
