I want to build a garbage enclosure in the back of our house,(we have a driveway that wraps around to the rear of the house. It needs to be big enough for the occasional home imporvement debris. Anyone got any design ideas for such a thing? I have a colonial (Wow, you don't say!) and I'd like the thing to look like it "goes" with the house. Needless to say I don't want to hire anyone to design it, but maybe you have a picture of one you built? Also, would I need a permit? |

I want one also and did a little research to find some plans. Google "trash can corral" and you should come across the plans I found from Georgia-Pacific. If not, PL me and I can send you the PDF. I want to modify these plans so that it has a hinged cover and possibly a gate so cans can be scooted in and out rather than lifted. I would think you could easily modify it to make it larger than the 2-can variety shown.

Don't know about the permit... What we did: ordered extra fence when he did ours. connected the extra piece to the fence we put up, making a "u" shape. added a little roof, using ply with, no kidding, some shingles that match our house. From the street you see a tiny bit of the little roof, but not much else. I didn't want a door, because I am usually hauling such disgusting loads of garbage to the trash that I don't have an extra hand. I just pull out the can from under its shelter, throw stuff out and push it back. It matches well enough. Good luck~ m |
