We are looking to upgrade our kitchen and would appreciate advice on refrigerators with the pull out freezer door on the bottom and double door top half that is full refrigerator. Pros - Cons ?

Thanks

I have the LG and love, love, love it! (No water/ice dispenser, or tv in my doors - just plain doors.)

I have the titanium finish and it looks great next to my stainless oven, dishwasher and garbage bin, but is so easy since it doesn't show fingerprints!

We have one that is 'counter-depth'. Love it. The few inches of space saved makes our kitchen look much larger. I do think, however, that because it is 'counter-depth', it may have less storage than many families would prefer--but perfect for us!

Thanks... we are looking at the new Maytag version of this fridge with the water/ice dispenser on the left door...a feature we have now with our crappy GE Profile fridge, and love!

Looks like we are headed this way.

Personally we feel that the ice dispenser on the door is the greatest invention since sliced bread. :-)

for what it's worth, make sure you measure the space. the units with the double door on top tend to be wider than those with a single door on top.

I have the LG also and love it....
the only downside is no door ice maker - but if you dont care about that its perfect.
Lots of room (go with the deep one), easy to access and clean, nice simple design, and keeps different foods perfectly.

I have an LG counter depth french door too...

pros:
- looks great
- wide double doors for wide loads (pizza boxes)
- food smell does not invade freezer

cons
- no ice maker in the door
- if you stuff the freezer full, sometimes the items get caught between the freezer basket and the ice box above it... I normally use a long handled ladle to push it back and open it... can be a pain sometimes...
- I have heard that toddlers and kids have easy access to the freezer; so they frequently pull out the goodies and other stuff out... :-)

We considered 'em a couple of years ago when doing the "big dig" but decided on a built-in side by side.

I got my first ice maker ever and it is wonderful! We decided not to get through-the-door based on Consumer Reports data that show that the biggest reson by far for refrigerator repairs is broken through-the-door ice/water dispensers. They also lessen the interior usable space significantly.

However, some people as you can see love 'em like I love my garbage disposals--I'd never be without 'em and they have problems too.

Above all go fondle 'em and show family members before you buy--Karl's and Reno's are good places for appliance fondling and the occasional purchase. Have a suggestion for a lovely salesperson at Reno's if needed...

Enjoy and be well, all.

David

We've had a Kenmore for a few months and love it. Ours has a chilled water dispenser on the door, but no ice (and that's fine by me). I'm impressed by how much fridge room there is.

We have become so independent on our ice machine that it was a major crisis when it malfunctioned last year.

GE profile with the water/ice dispenser. Karl's recommended it over Kitchenaid. Love it!
