My house is chilly right now, so I went to turn the heat on, and it isn't working. Does anyone know how I can tell if the pilot light is lit? There is water (steam heat).....thanks |

This happend to us last month. Called an emergency company, they checked out the boiler, cleaned it out, and were still stuck; then it dawned on me--check whether the thermostat batteries were still working. Nope, and Voila! (and Adieu! to $180 to the emergency plumbers!) |

check to make sure someone didn't accidentally hit the emergency off switch (usually near the basement stairs). |
