We just got back from a few days away from the house and we came back to find a strange smell in the bedroom. We can't locate the source but it appears to be where the radiator is. It's a kind of icky sweet smell, almost like something got burnt that shouldn't have. Anyone ever heard of this? Could it be the radiator?

Not to gross you out, but it could be a dead mouse - I speak from experience.

Check out the water level in the boiler. If below where it registers, turn the furnace off to cool, and a few hours later refill with water. DO NOT fill immediately as it could lead to a cracked boiler.
