It turns out that I'm going to have to live with the pink tile in our guest bathroom because it's just too expensive to take it all out and replace it. Any suggestions for wall color that might be a little fun? Since I have to live with this maybe I should just embrace it and go all the way - turqoiuse? chocolate? any suggestions?

I love it! I say Chocolate or blue. Maybe as accents but keep the walls white? I think it's a cool bathroom and the tile looks to be in good shape. |

check out the restoration hardwares windows - pink is in for bathrooms and they are coupling it with chocolate - you could get some really snazzy towels in there and it will look great. |

We have pink tile like that, and it had maroon accents. Also, slightly different pink sink, toilet, tub so lots of pink. Floor was gross. What we did was have a painter use tile paint to color the maroon white. Found floor tile that was a mix of pink, white, beige (hard to explain). Put in clear glass tub door as the bathroom is small feeling. Painted the walls a sort of taupe which matches the marble bathroom window sill. White trim, white shutters and valance. White towels. Kinda dulled the pink. Also big new oval mirrored med cabinet. Whats that in the floor tile? Black? Gray? Seems like a gray could be good on the walls with white trim. Shower curtain in that black on white kind pattern (etoile?) that looks like pen/ink drawings. Get grout cleaner/bleach to make the tiles pop more. |

Ralph Lauren makes a striped wallpaper with this exact color pink in it, for just this reason - too expensive to replace, and too many pink tile bathrooms. You could also go the whole art deco route by changing the light fixture and the mirror and putting in black accents. I agree with pangurbrown on checking out Restoration Hardware too. |

I don't know what color to suggest, but I am really digging that bathroom as it is.

Friends that used to live in town had a pink bathroom and they did it with black accents and a slightly Parisian theme. It was really sweet. |

I have a LARGE PINK bathroom. I was planning on demolishing it but after getting quotes from contractors I headed straight to Home Goods. If you are not familiar with this store, it contains all home deco items that are usually carried in the backs of Marshalls and TJMAxx. There is probably one on 22 or not too far from it. I picked up really cool retro style pink and chocolate towels, and bath accessories. Also, small brown shag rugs for in front of the sinks and tub. Everyone who visits loves it! |

I love pink, am a pink fiend, and therefore am totally loving that bathroom. I like Cynical's suggestion of gray and white, but I would also put some green in there -- maybe in terms of towels, accessories, etc. Then again, I grew up in the preppy 1980s. But I really do like that pink bathroom. |

This is fun to think about. Our late '40's or early '50's house came with the dusty rose-ish bathroom, an upstairs bath in a sort of mint green plus blue tile0wise, and the kitchen has a pink-ish formica counter, with one wall tiled in a kinda sage green with pink accent. None was of our choosing; all in too good a shape and budget too constrained to alter. Generally, I've found it both fun and wise to try to "restore" the rooms to the style of their time rather than impose a new one. Besides, I notice that color schemes repeat, and these will be in fasion again sooner or later. My husband has some Photoshop skills, so on some of this I had him take take a picture and then monkey around with colors etc. a bit so I could visualize. I like ess's idea of tossing in some green accents, though if yours is the dusty rose-ish pink, probably have to be more drk green than preppy grass green (unless live plants). Too, sometimes a sort of Asian theme works with that pink. From the pix, given the white fixtures, it would seem the biggest thing is to change out that shower curtain and wall color to effect a change. |

Thanks for all of the ideas! The tile is in decent shape, but the fixtures are in pretty bad shape, so we're at least going to change those out. I think some fresh paint and accessories, light fixtures, etc.. will make a big difference. I love the black / parisienne theme, but maybe I should have mentioned this will be the "kids" bath so, maybe that's too sophisticated? There are definitely lots of chocolate / pink things out there, although it does lean towards the rose side... lots to choose from, thanks again! |

On that target link there are some black, gray, white curtains that involve sort of abstract flowers -- and some kind of "mod" geometric things, too. You don't have to get too sophisticated seeming. Trust me, you can do a lot with that funky pink (without feeling badly that you can't replace). And the arched opening to the tub zone is really cool. |

FWIW, I don't know if I could live with it myself, but agree it's a shame to rip out such beautiful tile work, even if the color isn't your cup of tea. I love the chocolate and pink idea, but from the photo it looks like the darker color on the floor might be more in the taupe range. To keep the whole look softer, I'd paint the walls a similar taupe, just make sure it doesn't blend too well with the tile, you definitely would want a little contrast otherwise it will clash. Definitely test out the color you choose, those pinky browns can be tricky and a lot depends on the lighting. I'd do a soft white trim, not too brilliant, more creamy. Then for more pop I'd accent with darker chocolatey browns/lighter pinks which, as mentioned, is hot right now at TJ, Marshalls & Home Goods. Domino magazine had some interesting pattern mixing ideas in each issue. Try to check out the last issue with a dark brown bathroom. If you choose to do a patterned shower curtain, take into account the floor pattern. I love toile, but I don't know if that screams out to me. Maybe something with a pale pink background, with browns and creams. OOOH, I'd love to see monogrammed towels, dark brown with a pale pink initial... (Then again, I love anything monogrammed.) |

I have the exact same tile! However, the former owners had wallpapered the ceiling a walls with pink wallpapaer as well! I assume your floor tile has the light brown tiles, as mine does. I removed the wallpaper, painted the walls a pale beige color (looks like yours are the same color) I'd recommend finding a nicely patterned or striped shower curtain - maybe something with browns and beiges to play down the pink. You could get a nice fabric one and keep the plastic one as a liner. I'd recomend getting one that is very wide, so it ruffles nicely rather than pulls straight. Keep the shower curtain pulled across the tub to hide the pink interior. Have a valance made for the window in the same or a coordinating fabric. You could also have a sort of skirt made for the sink since you don't have a vanity. I once made one and used a self-sticking velcro tape to apply it to the bottom edge of the sink. Again, the fabric could be the same or coordinate with the shower curtain and valance, depending on your family's taste. Last, I'd try to find a solid color, coordinating comfortable cotton rug to cover much of the floor. Use it as a bath mat, but leave it there to help cover the pink floor tiles. I agree with someone above who recommended a creamier trim (I used Navajo White) for the window and walls, but it seems you have white toilet and sink, so it's not a huge deal imo. Good luck and be happy your sink and toilet aren't pink, like ours are (we're replacing them asap!)

I'm thinking Miami Beach, circa 1950's. Follow your turquoise instinct, maybe on the wall with the window. Bright white other walls and window trim and door to "pop" like the fixtures. Clear shower curtain with pink flamingos. I love the bathroom. |

I have to agree with the fans of the chocolate/pink combo. Personally, I'd go with a rich cocoa on the walls and hang some silhouettes for a graphic, old-Hollywood look, since the arch of the tub and the floor tile pattern have a bit of a deco feel. Plus, the chocolate really grounds the pale pink in a way that a lot of other colors won't.
