We live in a stucco home with a smooth finish. We're having it repainted and I'd prefer it to be textured, like the exterior found on many of the arts and crafts homes in the area. Is it the stucco itself that is textured, or is it a certain kind of paint? I thought I read somewhere that it is paint with sand in it.

I think it's also in the application. Some of those textured houses have swirls in the stucco. Some person put those there. Also, I've seen hash marks, also someone must have made them. I've seen the sand paint and it's pretty subtle. I'm not sure anyone would notice on the outside of a house. It is a texture though, and if that's all you want it's pretty darn easy. I say buy a tool and put in some swirls AND some hash marks. AND sand! J.B. |
