Can anyone recommend someone (maybe an individual rather than a store like Calico Corners) who makes custom window treatments? I know they are expensive but I have a room with many windows that is looking like it will cost in the several thousands for the window panels alone! Thanks for your help. |

www.smithandnoble.com www.countrycurtains.com You aren't going to find any inexpensive custom window treatments. My friend just got an estimate from a seamstress for over $1000 for simple curtain panels on 3 windows. They are probably beautiful, but I just can't see spending that. Also check out places like Bed Bath & Beyond, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Company Store, even Target. If you can find some $50 curtain panels that work you will save yourself a LOT of money. I just got 3 roman shades at smith & noble, cost around $100 a shade (cheapest level of fabric) and they look and function great. Easy to put up too. |

I just had this conversation! A woman at my son's school said they got their window treatments from Costco and she loves them! I know her to be very particular, so I'm sure they're beautiful. Don't know if anyone else has gone this route. |

I got mine at Blinds To Go & found the service, quality & value to be really good (wood blinds, solar shades, woven reed sort of roman shades, a few other styles in my house - no curtains)...have used Smith & Noble before - actually shopped there first & found almost exactly the same stuff at BTG for about 40% less...had a guy come & measure & then come & install...from ordering to instal was about 3 days (he delivered too - it would have been at least two trips for me...). They messed up one little thing on a huge order & were great about fixing very quickly I have a client who does custom tratments (curtains & such...PL me for info)

We've used Blinds To Go as well and are very happy with our purchases over the years. We had a funny shade of green in our main hallway and we bought a paint sample to them and viola! our shades matched exactly. They're really nice and are cheaper than the others. |

Good to know about Blinds to Go for the future! I used Smith & Noble for fabric roman shades, and would use them again for fabric shades/drapes if I couldn't find what I wanted pre-made. |

There's a woman on Ridgewood in SO named Mary Ellen (I THINK) - she had a website called Custom Creations but now I can't find it. Do a search on MOL for her number. She made great curtains for us very reasonable and very nice. She is very easy to work with. |

JC Penney has a huge selection of window treatments...drapes, blinds, shades, etc in their catalogue. I've purchased verticals, drapes & blinds from them, both ready made & custom. Not sure what the in-store selection is like, but their products are high quality & appeal to all tastes. Mrs. George |

Jaye Andrews made ours. She gave us lots of attention. I don't know if you'll consider her cheap. 973-762-0343
