I'm looking for recommendations for a contractor to install 2 storm doors (one will also involve replacing the existing wood door). |

We ordered 2 storm doors from the Lowe's in Woodbridge last year and they did the installation as well. We custom ordered the doors and they were very good about communicating about the status of the order and schedule (leaving almost too many messages, if that's possible), being flexible with scheduling the installation around our calendar and did good work. We haven't worked with the installers from the Lowe's that just opened in Union so I can't speak to that.

We had our storm doors installed by Essex Window and Door. It was around $500 for each (including the storm door). I can't find their website or number at the moment. They did a nice job.

Most stores that sell doors can provide installation service if you want. One of the nice things about going this route is that the store will do the measuring, so that is something you don't have to worry about, especially screwing it up. I think The Despot and Lowes only charge about $125 for installation, so to me it is worth it. They also cart away the old door which for you folks in SO and MW with limited bulk pickups is a real plus. Of course in the Town where we are now living we have weekly bulk pickups! Don't you just hate me for the last line? |

We don't hate you, Bob... if you don't live in Maplewood anymore, we just feel sorry for you! |
