I have a large, wooden, table that needs to be sanded and refinished. I did it myself once and it looked good for about 5 minutes. Does anyone know a professional who would do that sort of thing? Approximate cost? I also have 6 outdoor wooden chairs that need the same thing. Thoughts? |

Yeah, and for the amount a professional refinishing company would charge you can probably buy two new tables. |

Jeffl; It's a fairly easy process - clean the table & chairs first - lightly sand with high grit paper - tack with sticky cloth (home depot) - now depending on the wood type either use Teak Oil or Boiled Linseed Oil - apply and remove any excess oil from rags. Keep oil soaked rags in tin can and away from paper; rags have have potential of self combusting with flammible materials. At this point you can stop or if you want to go further - get light shellac and apply to wood - afterwhich you can apply a marine varnish to the wood (it will create a glossy look) this will deflect any chance of water absorbtion. |
