We are planning to carpet our three bedrooms and attic, and think we are leaning towards berber because of the look. Opinions on wool vs. nylon? Because the wool we are looking at is a remnant, the prices are basically the same, so that is not the issue. Ease of cleaning, stain resistance, durability...those are the main things that come to mind. I know plush carpet tends to be softer and more cozy, but I haven't gotten excited about the ones I have looked at. The berbers that I am thinking of are both fairly soft anyway.

Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks!

You might want to look on Ebay for Persian rugs. We've been able to carpet our house with handmade, beautiful wool rugs for a fraction the price of anything from Ikea or anywhere else. They're incredibly sturdy, stain-resistant, and come in a multitude of sizes, designs and colors. If you are interested, I can send you some more specific info, including sellers to watch for.

We put berber in our family room and are very happy with it. We bought and had installed by the new place on Rte 10 near Toys R Us (Carpet Depot?).

We used a mostly wool berber for our sunroom/study and are very pleased with its look, feel, and how well it has worn. We purchased it at Einstein Moomji during one of their sales. It was definitely higher priced than other carpeting, but well worth the investment.

Used to have wool berber in some of the places I live in the past and always LOVED it.
Don't get nylon, it's not as comfy and warm as the real stuff. There is a reason why (without a sale) it's a lot cheaper.

I too love the feel of wool berber, but ours didn't last long at all; it stained REALLY easily, and got quite worn and frayed very quickly, especially on our stairs. Too bad, because other than that () it was really nice!
