We have a pull-down attic door that broke and after looking around we realized that the door we have, because it is the original door from when the house was built 50 years ago, it is smaller than the current "standard sizes" for pull-down attic doors. So replacing pieces, unless we are lucky to find someone selling the same type of door, it seems nearly impossible. Does anyone know someone or someplace that can build us a new door and install it for us? It might be necessary that the opening on the celing will have to be cut bigger in order to fit a current standard size, but if we find a professional that will know what he's/they are doing and will do a good job, we would be fine with it. We have been trying to find a solution for this door for months and am hoping I might find some help in here. |

Can you determine the manufacturer? I just saw an article in one of the old house magazines about pull down stairs that noted that you may be able to get replacement parts, even for very old stairs. |

gj1, thanks for the quick response. We tried that, unfortunately there is no manufacturer listed and all the ones we've contacted don't make parts that small. I would be interested on reading that article though, do you know if I can find it online? |

Bessler was the company noted in the article I mentioned from April issue of Old House Journal. I don't see it online, though. You could also try Memphis Folding Stairs. |
