After rejecting new linoleum due to the cost ($15/sq foot) and ripping up the subfloor to discover a resin-like cork looking floor that's actually kinda cool, but in bad shape, I've ripped up part of the second subfloor to unveil the original hart pine floor. (I now know what Howard Carter felt like). I'm sure it's in rough shape in a few places, but I'll have that refinshed. Checking the archives I see many people using Expert and Russo. Any other suggestions for a crew to rip up the two subfloors and refinish the pine. Hoping for an old-school wood guy. Thanks, dOd |

Bryant flooring has done good work for us recently. I would include them on your list. |

We just put in linoleum (Marmoleum) , and love it, despite its relatively high cost. It looks beautiful, feels great underfoot and should last a lifetime. Reconsider. |

It's funny, Joso, that's were I started but it was going to cost me over $6000 and I just couldn't justify the cost for the kitchen floor. Where did you get yours from? dOd |

Claudio at Russo Flooring. He'll tear up and dispose of flooring for $1 a square foot. Two floors, $2/SF. He just installed oak flooring for us at $2.75/SF and that was for solid, 3/4" flooring, with sanding, stain, and two coats of something on top. I'll never use anyone else for flooring. He's wonderful. |

I used Claudio as well for my whole house - 850 square feet (sanding, refinishing, staining) and new oak floor in a 13 x 6 den. He did a great job. The old floors (Pine) came out especially nice. Give him a call - 973-418-2418. Tell hi Jason from South Orange referred you. |

That's 1 foot tile or the 1X3 clic system? You're right, I have seen it for that much on line. I was looking at sheet marmoleum installed and that was $12/ft or $15/ft with a subfloor. That was a retail price, but I have no way to install sheet myself and I have a large space to cover. As it turns out I think I'll be happy with the Hart Pine and ironically it's probably worth more than the linoleum. dOd |
