Looking for a good, not expensive, tree stump and tree removal service. I already have an appt. w/ Bartlett's and took Tree Kings off my list as they don't make definite appts. and won't come out unless you guarantee them a certain number of trees to remove (besides the woman answering the phones was totally obnoxious - so they are out).

I've heard the following names bandied about on this website, but most of the threads are a few years old so I am trying to get up-to-date information. Has anybody used:

Boescher (sp?) in Millburn
Franks
Carou (sp?)
Greenwood
PJ Tree
Delfino's
Bartlett's
Save a Tree
Maplewood Tree Expert

If you have would love your comments.
Thanks.

BrooklynLady

Can't say anything about anyone on your list, but a word to the wise on stump removal. Removal is usually a more involved process than grinding, but with grinding, you'll end up with sink holes as the balance of the stump below grade rots away.(An ongoing problem for us in several undesirable locations.)

I have a sink hole from a large tree removal done some years ago. Don't know what the solution is other than let it rot, fill it and sod it.

Uponda, are you a roofer or just trying to get away from the kids?

As the chips rot, they also stink. Building up the area with top soil I don't have a problem with. The stink is really Yuckky.

39 years in the trade. 31 years self employed and retiring next month. (Retiring from self employment, that is!) Really need to figure out what to be when I grow up. As far as the kids.... "You can run, but you can't hide!"

Brennan's in W. Orange.

I say that, altho I think he's more a "quality" provider rather than a "price" provider.

Did very good work on trimming high limbs near house, left yard substantially cleaner than he found it, and knows a good bit about trees. Trimmed 8 or so trees about a year ago, some pretty heavily, and all are doing well.

If you're just getting rid of one, he might not give you the lowest price, but he'd do the stump removal the right way (whatever that is), I'm sure.

Jim Carew is an excellent choice.

We used Bartlett's this past month we we were very well pleased. They were fantastic. A professional job was done promptly and beautifully, and the people who worked on our trees were extremely nice.
Ask for Jason. He's great! He meets with you to come up with a plan and secure your approval, then sends his crew to do the work, comes out to inspect the job, calls to discuss the job with you, and also returns calls promptly.

Then sends his tree grinding guy to come finish off the stumps.

Good luck with your trees/yardwork,and with whomever you choose.

Jersey girl
