O.K., it's REALLY time for me to start picking appliances for my new kitchen. I know which fridge I want, I already have a dishwasher. Originally, I thought I'd go with wall ovens and a cooktop, but considering my cooking habits, and taking in to account the cost, it seems a traditional gas stove/oven/whatever is a better choice.

I don't want the million dollar, top of the line, professional version Viking. I want stainless steel with a large cooktop with 5 burners that can accomodate over-sized saute pans (several at a time) and the like, with an oven that is reliable (the stupid Kenmore I've been living with heats up over 50 degrees hotter than the temperature you set it at!). And, of course, a reasonable price--whatever that is.

Here's the place to ask that question! Just watch out that you, too, don't become one of the TKO "Totally Kitchen Obsessed"

BTW -- you need to ask how many high powered burners do you want (need?). If you want the flexibility to simmer and do high heat on all/most burners, then look at the Jenn Air PRO line, DCS, and of course, Wolf, Viking.

(I think I learned TOO much on those forums!)

O.K. Pete, I'll check out all of the above.

But, which one do you have?

I have the Jenn-Aire pro line dual fuel downdraft and really like it. It only has 4 burners though, and I only use 2 because I have the grill on one side. (I bought the other burners but somehow haven't needed them.)

I like that the oven is electric and the stove is gas. The oven definitely cooks/heats more consistently and broils nicely.

I also like the look a lot.
