I'm looking to purchase 20+ evergreen (partial sun) trees to form a "living fence" for privacy in our backyard. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has planted trees for this purpose. I've been toying with Leyland Cypress or Norway Spruce but would like to hear other options that would grow well in this region.

I'm also hoping to find a local nursery that offers a one year replacement guarentee on trees. I've tried Orange Garden Supply and the nursery off Valley in Maplewood and neither of them do.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I planted a leyland cypress from Orange garden supply along with two varigated holly and four rhodadendrons. So far so good.

I think arbor vitae are prone to dieing. What's the mature height of Norway Spruce? And, will you yard tolerate it?

There's a place on Rt 22 I think it's called B & B Nursery. Their prices and selection are very good. I think Lowes and H.D. offer a 1 year g/tee. It is true that arborvitie die. You might take a look at the house on Ridgewood Road just before the Millburn border by the tressel. They just put in a s...load of greenery.
