My 2 car gararge needs work.
It leans a little and has some rotted wood that needs to be replaced.
Any suggestions an who to use or avoid.

You should have said, "pimp my garage."

How old are you? Like 30 or somethin'? Sooo lame.

Bob Hume (RGH Deveopment)does amazing work. My garage was a good wind storm away from falling over, Bill Preston (of RGH Development) had it standing tall in a few days. 973-762-6446

Another vote for Bob Hume. Our garage was leaning and tilting precariously, had rotted wood, no doors, was painted turqouise and had a black roof that had been put on incorrectly by the previous owner. We kept hoping a windstorm would blow it over, so maybe homeowners insurance would pay to put it back up.

No such luck.

Bob and his guys did a great job getting it back in shape, and this is what it looks like today:

(I love my garage--I know that might sound a little crazy, but I do!)

I was doing my impression of a teenager.

Perhaps a bit too realistic...

Cranky, who me? Never.

We also have leaning garage/rotted sill plate syndrome. How much does it run to fix?

ours was about $7500, which was to straighten the garage our, repair some of the cinder block foundation, sister the support structures with pressurized lumber, add a couple of upper supports, replace a few clapboards. Did not include repairing the garage floor, fixing the holes in the clapboards made to accomodate the cables to lift the garage, or other needed repairs like replacing a rotted window sill. I really would like to have a new concrete floor poured....

To stabilize my garage to keep it from falling down--not to make it as pretty as meandtheboys'--I did it for under $3000. I think that meant new sill plates, sistering support beams, and perhaps running some beams across the ceiling to stop the bowing on two sides.

Jerry Eger. 908-272-8493. He was actually not the lowest quote, but he had put an addition on my home, and I liked working with him then, so I went with him. (And everyone I talked to--except the $11,000 quote--was in the same ballpark.)

We are restoring a garage now....actually turning it into an art studio. This includes electricity, plumbing(bathroom) and gas heat. The house is 60' away. Poured new concrete floor. We are in the middle of the job. I would be happy to send before and current pictures if interested. My cell number is 973-610-3326. thanks

We used Norm Straub 973-449-2381 to install a storage loft above our garage, put in a side door etc. He also shored up the supports, repaired a hole made by the critters etc. Nice guy, seems very honest, good work. Tell him the Holland's referred you. We have a ton more work for him to do her, maybe we'll get a discount! :-)
