Neverending floor saga -- part three.

Finally found some Heart Pine to patch my floors in Florida from a company that salvages 200 year old sunken logs and mills them. (FYI - if you have Heart Pine floors, cherish them as you could be standing on your retirement package.)

Have two rads in the kitchen that now need to be lowered 1" to compensate for the overall lowering of the floor. Little hestitant to start screwing with rads that haven't been touched in 50 years.

So... hire a plumber, remove, cap, finish floor and reinstall? Does the system need to be drained?

Thanks,

dOd

If you have a steam system no draining required. The riser nipple is going to have to be replaced with one that is an inch shorter though. I recommend this be done before the new floor is finished because removing the old riser nipple usually requires a little of the old ultra violence.
