If they're latex (water based), dump some kitty litter in them... get them 'reasonably solid'... and then you can put them out with the trash. (This may take some discussion with WM, but it IS legal).

If its oil-based paint, I think you need to visit the hazardous waste day thingie - there was a thread about this recently.

I saw something on the TV that Essex county is doing a big "toxic" container clean-up. I can't remember where to take them (some other town) but there may be a website for Essex county with the info. It's soon, like maybe this weekend.

That was really helpful Shana...not only for the old oil based paint but also for those old clunker propane tanks!

All my years of clinical training leave me with masterful powers of perception and discernment.

Now, you wouldn't happen to be Shana O., mother of Ella and Amalie (and pulling my leg even beyond what's obvious here)?

And hey--how did you guess my name? Your own masterful powers of perception and discernment, perhaps?!?

Yes, to the second question, and no to the first. My kids are Frances and Sam. Maybe we'll all meet someday in the real time-space continuum.

Just had this conversation w/SO Disposal. Call them first, so they can tell the guys to be careful w/your bag of paint cans. Then, fill the cans about half-way w/either kitty litter or sand, double bag them in the black trash bags and leave them by the curb on a regular collection day.
