Can anyone recommend the name of a reliable surveyor? Thanks!

Casey & Keller, Inc. in Millburn does a first rate job. Back in 2001 they staked our property lines and did a partial topographic survey for $745.

It costs more to have it staked, but it's worth it b/c then the property line is easy to find. The stakes can be driven down into the earth after you are done w/them - they'll still be able to be found by a metal detector.

It's illegal to do what my backyard neighbor did, which is to rip out one of our stakes that he didn't like b/c he perceived it to be part of his land. Oh well; our purpose for staking was primarily to assist with proper replacement of a retaining wall that had fallen down.

Thanks so much. They have come highly recommended from another source as well. The problem is that I can't get them to call me back. It's been three weeks now. Is there a trick I don't know about?

I just called their office at 973-379-3280 and they are looking forward to receiving another call from you.

Thanks! They just got back to me, but I surely wasn't expecting the price they quoted. Ouch!

The name we got (but never ended up using) was James Halsey - 973 425 1258.

I think Casey & Keller is an engineering firm, while Halsey is strictly a surveyor. Probably a bit less expensive.

We used James Halsey from Basking Ridge 973-425-1258. He did our original survey in 2000, but no stakes. When we needed to have the property staked last week, I called him on Thursday, returned my call Friday and the property was staked Monday. Great guy and reasonable price
