The original underground pipe that drained the roof gutters out to the street is hopelessly clogged. We are looking for a contractor that can put a new one in place and not having much luck.

Has anyone had this done? Who did you use? Would you recommend them?

Thank you.
c.

We had a landscaper do it for us as part of a larger project. I would not recommend them but they did this part of the job well.

When you say, "Hopelessly clogged," does that mean you've tried to have a plumber snake it? (I had to have it done twice, thanks to roots.) If not, you might want to try that first. And if you have, I agree with Fabulous that the next step is contacting landscapers. I believe Anthony's installed mine many years ago and did a perfectly fine job.

If you do drain work, you might think about what my friend is doing: He is connecting the down spouts to soaker hoses around their shrubs. I think that it is a great environmental move & wish I'd thought of it when we did sprinklers last year.

I had Roto-Rooter snake my pipes very sucessfully. Years and years of small roots had clogged up the works - I don't think the previous owners ever had the pipes snaked. I had tried twice myself with Home Depot rental machines but I didn't quite have the expertise. I think it cost $300 for Roto-Rooter - a lot cheaper than new pipes.

greenetree, how inventive! How can you be sure it won't provide too much water?
