I want to replace my sidewalk ASAP. Can you recommend someone, based on your experience? It's not long -- only 11 squares. I have one estimate that seems way too high.

Thanks.

How much does this run? Is it worth it to just replace the 1/3 to half that are cracked rather than all of them?

If 1/3 to half are cracked, is it worth it to just replace the damaged ones (& trim down roots causing the cracks/heaves), out rather than all of them?

I live in SO and my sidewalk has some heaving and cracks that were caused by trees in the little strip of grass between sidewalk and the road. That is the towns responsibility. I had someone from public works come out and validate the fact that the trees in the strip were responsible for the heaving and the town is replacing the sidewalk. I came home one day and they had painted the sidewalk that is being replaced and received a letter in the mail.

I actually was informed by my next door neighbor. They had the guy out to look at their sidewalk. The town was not very cooperative about the situation, their intial response was that it was the homeowners responsibility. I guess my neighbors kept moving up the food chain and finally got someone to take care of it. Thankfully they informed all of the surrounding neighbors and a good majority of the sidewalk on my entire street is going to be fixed.

I wouldn't call the town and ask who is responsible because you will probably get the same intial response. Jsut tell them you need them to fix it.

However, If the trees that are causing the problem are on your property then you would be responsible.
