We have some painting we need to get done. I've got an estimate from Rutgers, but would like one or two others. World of Colors didn't show up for three separate appointments to give me an estimate, so we're not interested in them. Also called Pintona who has not returned my call. Thanks.

Have you tried Mario's Painting? They did our house two years ago, and it still looks good. (908) 298-9106

A second thumbs up for George Mera! I think he's painted about 95% of my house and I'd definitely hire
him again!

Painting America just painted the house directly across the street from mine and did an amazing job. This house was an utter mess which made for a terrible view! They are also currently painting another house on our block. PL me for more information.

Painting America did a phenomenal job painting the exterior of our home earlier this week. The gentlemen running the company were very personable and very professional. I would definitely recommend this company over other companies in town, who we've had trouble with in the past.

Rock and Jock - I love the fact that you are keeping the business local and that you are happy with their services. It is a business run by two Columbia High School grads with college degrees who decided to give back to the community that they came from. They really pride their business on customer service. Fred, one of the owners, is bilingual, which is key.

LOL....are the Columbia guys doing the painting for free for the elderly and destitute? When you say give back to the community that is the impression I would assume. If so, then this is very admirable. Are those that are not bi-lingual now at a disadvantage in this area? You say this is now "key" to doing work here. Guess we'll have to brush up on our Yiddish.

I live two blocks in from Maplewood in Millburn for the past 22 years. Not by choice but by circumstance. When we bought our home after coming from Brooklyn we were shown many Maplewood homes we could not afford. While glancing through the realtors book Rich came across this house needing tons of work. We bought it and although we are in Millburn I do my patronizing in Maplewood. I won't go into what I think of the ideals of most Millburn/Short Hills folks.

Also, it should be known that Kevin of Rutgers follows up on anything that may be remiss in the job. Rutgers is known for customer satisfaction, and has been in Maplewood for many years.

What I know Rutgers crews are subcontractors they have their own companies, so I rather have the work done for a company that does the work directly and they do a good work too, do a search and you will find other guys working on town doing same work as Rutgers and similar prices or sometimes lower prices.

For anyone interested.

World of Color never showed up.
Jorge Mera never returned my phone call.
Pintona came and looked, but never dropped off an estimate.
I *think* but am not sure that the person posting about Painting America is the guy's mom. She lives up the street from me.
Rutgers came as promised to give an estimate and always return my calls.

Guess who we hired?

thanks for the help, all.

Yes, sometimes the owners themselves post - sometimes they even
act as though they are homeowners looking for work, just to slam
another contractor, and lots of people on here are actual homeowners who have used the services they recommend.

For the record, I have no problem with people recommending their children or their own companies. I just prefer when people are up front about it. I like that some business owners post here and let it be known who they are. It gives me a certain level of confidence.

Stay away from Rutgers - If you want to see first hand what I'm talking about send me an email and you can come over a see first hand why you should not go with Rutgers - Columbia grad or not - look for quality and workmanship he provided neither.

Remember RUTGERS employs illegal immigrants, doesn't pay taxes or social security so yes the price may be right but you get what you pay for let alone taking the job away from companies that do comply with the law. I also had to force litigation in order to recover money for damages RUTGERS painting caused. I documented everything and brought in many expert witnesses to help bolster the case, most people satisfied with RUTGERS wouldn't know a bad paint job if it was staring them in the face.

Those who of us who due diligence and educate ourselves on the process know what I'm taking about.

Maplewoody and Phenix -

Third vote of non-confidence for Sergio - they did such a terrible job - like beyond bad.

Painted all my sash wires, painted shut almost every window in the house, painted hinges white, then tried to correct it by painting them black - which means we have gloopy black-and-white hinges that don't hinge...

I don't want to re-live the Sergio agony - that's just off the top of my head.

Little by little, 7 years later, we're still repairing the cyclone of destruction that was Sergio.

They were like the Cat in The Hat of painting services.
