I 'd like to make a long story short and recommend 2 companies that I wouldn't hesitate to use again.
My house was robbed last night.
Alarm worked properly (Crook knew there was a minute before police would arrive)Helped him/herself to my jewelry.
After police finished the investigation (around midnight) the phone rang
It was the on call tech for the alarm co., Checking to make sure the alarm had not been compromised,(It had not) if it had, he'd come right over to repair.
My front door had been pushed in, needed repair/replacement.
I've been reading about Honey Do on this site.
Waited for Sherri to make her first post of the day (so I knew I wouldn't wake them)
Rich was here by 11 AM
Have a temporary fix and when I choose the door, He will install it.
Having your house robbed is stressful enough. I don't need more trying to get it put back together again.

A Huge Thank You to Ultimate Security in Livingston and to Sherri & Rich at Honey Do

Last night Today

It's good to read of two recommendations at a time like this, but more importantly I hope you are ok.

We are fine, no one hurt, they didn't wreck the house, just broke the door and took the jewelry. Thanks for asking!

One of the other threads that I've been following is the ADT thread. Seeing as you are happy with the security system you have, would you offer a little more information about the contract and the services or who you deal with there? We're currently pricing out systems now.

So sorry for what has happened to your family. I'm sure you must feel so violated. :-(

Cowgirl,
The staff at Ultimate Security couldn't be more helpful. Brett came to the house for the initial consult. Price depends on what you want/need. My house had wiring from previous owners, as much as possible they used that. They come every year for maintenance (if you want them to for small fee) Well worth it.
In 5 years we have had no "false" alarms. Meaning the system does not go off with out reason (like forgetting to turn it off before opening slider)
I believe we are paying about $75 quarterly for monitoring and I originally told them I wouldn't be tied in to a 3 year contract. We have had windows replaced, they have come promptly and politely to reattach and reinstall whatever we have needed. If budget allows I HIGHLY recommend.
FWIW after my last post I found out that another house in the neighborhood was robbed just prior to mine... they apparently spent "more" time in that house after disabling the alarm. They got everything and turned the house upside down. I can only guess that they didn't know how to disable my alarm. Could the nationally advertised co. that the neighbors used be a less complex system??? Maybe Swato (from the adt thread) could answer.

Well a lot of the "Tips" amateur burglars are getting on how to circumvent alarm systems is from TV and the news media. In 22 years in the security biz I have seen a rise in this type of break in which I won't mention here being committed by the opportunist burglar. And that security show on cable TV shows both the good and bad side of informing homeowners of what actually happens when you are targeted. And yes they really do that much damage. People say we don't need an alarm because we don't have anything to steal, but the thief does not know that.
