Anyone know a good person/company to refinish hardwood floors? Also, any comments on oil vs. water based poly? I searched the boards for past info but am looking for some more up-to-date contact suggestions. Thanks! |

We just used Claudio, 973-418-2417, based on recs from this board and he was a pleasure to work with. Our floors look amazing. He did what he said he would, in the time he said he would do it, for the price agreed upon. I'm happy to recommend him. All that being said, our floors happened to be in good condition under carpet, with no major repairs needed. We did not know this until after the carpet was lifted, so maybe we were a little lucky, too. He used oil on our floors. |

You may want to try European Flooring also. Under no circumstances use Expert Hardwood in Verona - feel free to PL me for details, but they well and truly screwed up our floor. Less than a year later we have adhesion issues, all kinds of mess. I've selected European to do the 're-finish' work, cleaning up the mess that Expert Hardwood made. |

question: we have some "soft spots," spots in the wood floor that kind of cave in a little. When they redo floors do they fix that kind of stuff, or are we talking about needing to put down all new floors for that? Also, the people who re-did our house changed from steam radiators to baseboard, so there are some holes in fairly inconspicuous places where the pipes had come in. would they fill that stuff in too? |

HI--- Just a recommendation NOT to use Bryant flooring. Very messy crew. Left wood shavings all over house. Spilled stain on our bathroom sink. Started smoking in house until we asked them not to. Wood putty applied in a messy way. Installed new flooring in one room and left exposed staples in floor- refused to fix. Bad experience.... |

Eire: I think it depends on the repair needed. Fill ins with putty (like the issue you describe with the radiators) were included in our job, but we were told if there were issues that couldn't be remedied with putty and sanding that there may be an extra charge involved. However, if your issues are visible to the eye, the contractor should be able to tell you in his estimate what it would entail. |

I've used Claudio and have recommended him to anyone who will listen. He's courteous, clean and a delight to work with. His prices are fair and the workmanship is awesome! CLAUDIO @ Russo Flooring 973-418-2417. |
