Anyone have any ballpark idea how much it would cost to bump out a kitchen for an addition of about 10x15? Since the back is raised, this would also have to include a bit of excavation below to add on to the basement as well. Other than that, no other complications with the job. What would you guess this would run (just for the addition, not the remodeling)?

Four years ago our two-story 10x20 addition, including demo of an exisitng sunroom and excavation of a crawlspace beneath was 55k. I do know construction costs have risen though, and our job, though it was two stories, didn't include cabinetry.

The estimate we were given--maybe about six months ago now--when we began the process of planning our addition, was $250-$425 per square foot. As it stands now, we're coming in just about in the middle of that, not including cabinetry, appliances, etc. And, from what I understand from my architect, the contractor we got is giving us an extremely good price, in comparison to others! So I'm guessing most are coming in more towards the higher range.

Virtual IT girl, thanks for that--we're not doing a two story addition, but we are excavating so that helps to give us a realistic starting point, even though it was four years ago.

MeAndtheBoys: Do you like your architect? If so, would you be willing to share the name?

Do you guys already have a general contractor for the job? If not, please PL me - I have one that I think you'd want to talk to.
