I have inherited two, C. 1960, Baker Furniture pieces - chest of drawers made from cherry wood, one a long, horizontal piece, one a tall, four drawer piece. Both have solid brass "ship's" pulls. They've been in storage for over a year in my friend's garage, and are beginning to deteriorate. My friend offered to use them if she could paint them white, but fortunately I looked up Baker Furniture on E-Bay and found that they are potentially each worth more than $2,000 (restored), which makes them far more valuable by a factor of ten than any of the Workbench and Ikea stuff we have in the house. Other than Ken Pettis (whom I will call as one source) would anyone be able to recommend a terrific furniture restorer? Does anyone have a ballpark of what it costs to restore water and time damaged furniture? Thank you! |
