Is there a time of year you want to avoid for painting? For my own schedule I wish we could do late August or is too hot then? |

Any mild month is fine, the most important thing is that the wood be dry. Exterior painting with any moisture in the wood will result in a lousy job. |

I agree with Us2. Actually late August is a pretty good time. Usually the worst of the really hot weather is over and there isn't a lot of rain at that time of year, hurricanes excepted that is. |

We had ours done in late August and it stretched into late September due to the unusually large amount of rain that year. It is hurricane season and late August is the peak period, needless to say the paint job was a disaster for numerous reasons part of which was contributed by the moisture trapped between primer and finishing coat. If I do it again it will be in early July. |

We got on the schedule for first thing in the season a few years back (end March, early April). I schedule it around the garden. July/August may be good for painting, but you will lose your flowers in prime season. But, I'm just anal that way. I'd go for October the next time. |

Me too, greenetree. We once had our house painted in mid-spring, and the garden was never the same the rest of the season. (It was also a very rainy spring, so the job took way too long.) Last year we did it in August, which was better -- no rain over the week, and the garden was fried by then anyway, so I didn't care. Also, Rutgers gave us an August discount! |

i would do it at the same time as greenetree, before everything planted around your house comes to life. |

Thank you so much for the advice... Now I need to think about what color to do. |
