jeffl - we were having the same problem finding good, reasonably priced counter height stools (with backs). We were at capitol lighting in E. Hanover and decided to pop into Pier 1 just for kicks and we found a set of counter height stools to our liking. They are dark wood and have leather seating surfaces and are quite comfortable. I think they also have a suede covered model, but since we have a small child the lighter color wouldn't have lasted very long. They come in both bar and counter heights. I think you can view them here: http://www.pier1.com/catalog/productdetail.aspx?oid=68467&returnURL=http%3a%2f%2 fwww.pier1.com%2fcatalog%2fcollections.aspx%3ffh_location%3d%2f%2fpier1direct%2f en_US%2fcategories%3c%7b110297%7d%2fcategories%3c%7b110318%7d%26fh_refpath%3dfac et_59432939%26fh_start_index%3d0%26fh_view_size%3d8%26fh_view%3dlister&fh_locati on=//pier1direct/en_US/categories<{110297}/categories<{110318}&fh_refpath=facet_59432939&fh_start_index=0&fh_view _size=8&fh_view=lister

I went to BB&B for a "temporary" solution until I could make up my mind. Armed with a stack of 20% coupons (it's against my religion to shop there without), I ended up with $64 dollar padded counter stools with backs. They are comfortable, have held up for two years and I've had so many compliments on them that I have no plans on looking for "permanent" ones until they die. |

When I was looking last year I couldn't believe how expensive they could be! I found lots of websites...overstock.com had a nice selection. I ended up ordering them from Costco.com and I like them. They were sold in pairs. Ours are adjustable in height which is great with small, medium and tall people in the house. |

If you like modern furniture, try Design Within Reach -- www.dwr.com. A little pricey, but excellent quality and style. |

Westco on route 10. Ballards catalog. I love the Home Decorator's catalog, but they have the absolute worst customer service. I will never order from them again. |

target.com has good prices and a pretty big selection. We bought ours from Pottery Barn (on sale) and we're very happy with them.

Hey Just My 2 Cents, I found a awesome secret it's a place located in the Menlo Park Mall. I do not remember the name but found there prices to be HIGHLY negotiable, ther service to be great (I had 1 problem) and there products are pretty darn good and great for the price. I do know if you venture there they are directly accross from the Rain Forest resturaunt. GOOD HUNTING |

I happen to be selling a set of 4 barstools that have never been used (bought for a photo shoot). They're chrome with black vinyl, and I'm selling the set for $150. If you'd like to see pix, let me know. |
