We need an electrician to upgrade our home's electrical system. We need a plumber to install a washer/dryer into a bedroom (it backs up onto a bathroom so the plumbing exists) Thanks in advance. |

Maplenewbie, Be careful, gas fired appliances (such as clothes dryers) are not allowed in sleeping areas or bathrooms. Also, you're not allowed to use combustion air for the appliance from the bathroom either. Don't mean to sound like a "wet blanket", but I hate to see you get yourself jammed up after the fact. I'd also advise you to get permits as well. Good Luck! |

I recently used Adam Schipani from Mario Schipani Electrical and I strongly recommend him. I don't have his number with me, but I posted it in previous threads and I know they're listed. bklyngirl |

Robert raises a good point. I'm kind of conservative on this, but I won't use plimbers or electricians who will do permit-required work without permits. It ensures that they stay to code and you don't have issues down the road. I've also found that Pros who've worked here forever know local code and go by it. When we built a new bathroom, our plumber (CT Williams) advised us on code for fixture clearance (which our ex fake-contractor didn't bother to mention) and saved me from buying something that I would not legally have been able to install. |

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer we are looking to use an electric dryer not gas in that room and we would definitely be securing the right permits. Thanks for the tips. |

I just used Brian Stromko Electric for a total attic makeover. He was very responsive and did a great job. I had used another highly recommended electrician from this site for a 200amp service upgrade a year ago. I had him come out to give an estimate on the attic job, and never heard from him again. Even after 2 phone calls. I will use Brian Stromko for everything from now on. As for plumbing, I am a Gateway fan. |
