Bambi is a cute cartoon character, but the numerous deer in my backyard have me thinking that I should do something to prevent Lyme disease?

Any ideas? Is there something I can buy at Home Depot or is this a professional service? And then there's the issue of them coming back.

Keep your grass cut. Cut back any underbrush. Ticks like to hang out in (or on):
* yards surrounded by dense woods
* birdbaths, birdfeeders
* outdoor pets that come indoors
* woodpiles, brushpiles, stone or rock walls
* swingsets, treehouses in the woods

See this for details:

You cannot keep the deer out of your yard with anything other than a 8 - 10 foot fence. You can get it at Home Depot, but your neighbors might object.

Check yourself for ticks and remove them before they start to suck your blood. I don't know of any professional service that will do this.

Max, why would neighbors object to a fence?

Fences often don't look very nice. That is why neighbors might object. Anyway, another option is to know the symptoms of Lyme disease and check for ticks after being outside. We all know or know of people who have had serious complications from tick-borne disease. I think we know a lot more who have being treated without issue. Enjoy nature.

The type of fence that could keep deer out (8-10 feet) would not meet code, let alone your neighbors objections.
