Have a Duncan and Fife mahogany veneer table and four chairs that need repair and refinishing. Also have a maple bed and rocking chair that need help too. I'm looking for recommendations, but don't want to spend an arm and leg.

Thanks

Valley Furniture, in Watchung, used to, and maybe still does, have someone on the staff who gives advice about furniture repair and refinishing. Call them and ask for Barbara (she was the person).

I'm working with Carriage House refinishing in Summit - haven't gotten the stuff back yet, but they get good reviews here.

There is a place on Valley Street on the West Side (right) between Third Street and Pathmark heading toward MW. Not sure what its called, but I remember passing it. I do not have any first-hand experience with them.

I used John Berardi at 33 Freeman Street on the Orange/West Orange border. He refinished my dining room table. It came out great. He was also very reasonable in price. If you would like to see his work just give him a call: 973-677-2776.

You are also more than welcome to stop by and see my table.

Thanks everyone. Keep sending suggestions if you have other craftsmen to recommend.

Dave from Atlantic Restoration was recommended to me by Ivory Bird Antiques in Monclair many years ago. I have use him several times. He is very reasonable and my pieces looked new when finished. 973-361-2416.
