was quoted $425 to stain a moderate-sized deck (about 18x10 ft). Does this sound right? Thanks! |

Sounds fair, is he sanding first? If so this sounds great. |

Is the deck being powerwashed? Railings and steps? Is it a clear weatherproof stain or solid color?

I've already powerwashed the deck, so it's just the stain. I assumed railings and steps were included, but I guess I should ensure that is so.

Powerwashing and stain it's a good price. Sounds steep for just staining. But then again, no one's coming to your house anymore for under $400. |

Cody: Can you share the name of the company doing the staining? We have hired a company to do our deck, but we are now waiting a month since it has been powerwashed and they cannot tell us when they will get to us. |

For a deck that size, that's a ridiculously low price. It's definitely a good thing that they are waiting (weather purposeful or not), particularly due to the wet weather we've had, and it will be quite some time before your deck has dried out sufficiently for staining. |

I just had my front porch, which is 25 x 7, sanded and stained (Cabot Clear) along with the front and side steps done for $850. |

Can you share who you used? And if they do step repairs? |
