Can anyone recommend someone to service our lawn sprinkler? We recently moved here and want to have our system checked out turned on for the summer.

Thanks!

Do you know who installed the system? If so, I'd give them a call first.

Emerald -- can't recommend them highly enough. (both for start up/ shut down & repairs)

Last summer the gas company replaced our gas line, in the process they mangled the srinklers in 2 places. Emerald came out almost immediately, so they could fix it while PSEG was still on site.

Compared to some of the robber barrons around here. I believe they charge $150 or so for start up and shut down -- my neighbors used that other plumbing outfit mentioned here occasionally, and were charged $300 just for start up! Emerald has their main office in Springfield or Union, as I recall.

Carmine's Landscaping here in Maplewood. Installed a system for us, among many other projects. Highly recommend them. 973-763-6626 or visit www.carmineslandscaping.com

LOVE Emerald too!

Embarrassed to admit - our old service charged us $730 for a service contract or they wouldn't do "start-up" until early July.

Emerald came right out - $70 start-up and the workers are nice as pie.

Since everybody "loves" Emerald I would love to have the phone number. It was not posted.

Thanks for all of the recommendations! I called Emerald and they are coming out today! That sounded like an excellent price after I got a quote for over $300 to do the start up/shut down from another local company.

Just curious, what is the startup/shutdown of a sprinkler system, and what's the ballpark for an install? My lot is 50x150.

NEW JERSEY LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION CONTRACTORS CERTIFICATION ACT, N.J.S.A. 45AA-1

Please be advised that the State of New Jersey requires an irrigation license for contractors who are performing irrigation services.

A complete list of licensed contractors is availible through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection at 609-777-1012. All contractors in violation of this law are to be reported to the New Jersey Landscape Irrigation Contractors Examining Board and are subject to fines ranging from $500 -$1500 or higher.

Non-certified contractors can be reported

New Jersey Lanscape Irrigation Contractor Examining Board Department of Enviromental Protection Bureau of Revenue CN 417, Trenton, NJ 08625-0417.

Just so there is no confusion, the irrigation contractor STILL needs a Licensed Master Plumber to connect the potable source And the required Back-Flow Preventer, And still must secure a permit.

Good info -- followed the page for certified contractors to Emerald, I didn't even know they had a web site!

I've been happy with Spring House. I only use them for shut down (system blow out). Start up is very easy to do yourself.
