Just replaced the bedroom air conditioner. The new one is more BTUs and about 2/3 the size of the old one. Progress, I s'ppose. Anyway, gotta get rid of this big ol' monster. Any ideas? |

The "Law" is that you must first have the old refridgerant probably R-12 evacuated and recovered prior to disposal. But, some times you can't help but break the line while moving it. Hint, hint. At which time you acan toss it. |

The South Orange dump has a scrap metal pile. No permit needed to dump scrap metal because it is a money making deal for them. I believe they use the proceeds to benefit the fire dept. AND...They are set up with thier own machines to recover the refridgerant and dispose of it properly. Don't vent Freon into the atmosphere, not good Mr T. |

Give it away on Freecycle! I gave away two monster units to some very grateful people.

Me too, Tom. The recipients of my big old overly loud units called last night from their now-comfortable abode to offer profuse thanks. I win - did them a big favor and cleared out space in the basement without having to pay somebody to haul 'em away. Yay! |

I've got a dead TV I need to get rid of. Can I just drop it off at the dump or do I have to wait for container day? |
