What was I thinking!?! We used a bright white tile grout color on our bathroom floor, and it shows dirt every time our kids walk into the bathroom. We haven't sealed it yet, and we're wondering if there's a way to add some color to the grout (a light grey would be good) without messing up the ceramic tile. any ideas? tx!

As it "ages" it will turn grey anyway. :-)

You are in for a lot of work. The orginal grout has to be removed with a grout saw and then the floor regrouted. I hope you don't have mosaic tiles on the floor.

Nancy, I made the exact same mistake. Mine looks awful just six months after retiling. I'm going to ask at a tile store. I'll let you know what they say!

Quite awhile ago someone posted this link in response to a similar question, and I've kept the link with the hope of actually doing this in our bathroom someday. It's a message board, so keep reading, and you'll see some pictures someone posted of their DIY project of coloring the grout - it looks great!

Just a thought since my creative mind is always working...if the grout hasn't been sealed (and grout is porous) why not try something like rit dye, or jello, or kool ade or tea or coffee or something that stains stuff when you don't want it to stain. Try it in a non-conspicous area and see if it changes to a color you like. Then seal it.

There is grout stain available--I changed my grout color several years ago.
