I have solid wooden dining room chairs with terribly torn naugahyde covers. I need to get them reupholstered, but don't know of a place to go, and haven't settled on a material. Leather won't work as it's too expensive and my kids and cats will trash it. Naugahyde is good because it wipes off, but looks lame. Cloth will probably soak up too much goo. Any advice?

Also, where should I go for best price? what range can I expect, per chair? Anything to look out for?

Ultimate Upholstery on Valley for the actual upholstery work. Try Terminal Mill ends in Union for fabric. Ask their advice, many fabrics now are treated with water resistant/stain resistant finishes so they don't absorb moisture and you can wipe them off. Naugahyde is thankfully not necessary!
